I've started drinking again - not in an AA, twelve-steps kind of way, just a post-work, pre-dinner kind of way. I've always enjoyed a cocktail, a beer, or a glass of wine and I've certainly been known to drink in excess on a number of occasions, but once Kyle was born, I sort of stopped drinking at home. I can't even say it was a conscious decision to not drink, but somehow I felt the need to stay sharp...maybe it was the trips to the ER with a bleeding kid that made me realize life could turn on a dime and I might want to be completely sober for it! Anyway, now that Kyle's seven, more self-sufficient and our life is humming along nicely, I have a cocktail whenever I want it. Oh and we have a bit more money in the bank these days too, so it's easier to splurge on a nice bottle of Grey Goose vodka or Patron tequila. I almost always order a Cosmopolitan when I'm out, because really that's one of my favorite drinks so at home, I experiment with all kinds of things. Hmm...now that I've read this over, I'm wondering if people are going to THINK I have a drinking problem! LOL.

On the Rocks
So, to make me feel better about myself, tell me in the comments what you like to drink - at home and when you're out for the evening.

I grew up in a house where dad had a beer (or two) after work when he got home. I seem to enjoy that in adulthood also. I definitely go in phases, but if there is alcohol in our fridge, I'll have one a few nights a week. I like to drink a beer when I'm cooking supper.
When we're out, I usually have water. Because of the being broke part. ;-)
I totally hear you with the staying sharp part. That's exactly where I am now, although I did have one beer while watching football Sunday. Decadent! lol
I'm totally a beer person now. Every time I have vodka I end up having too much without realizing it and feeling like "who did it and ran" the next day.
Umm - yeah - I'll have what she's having.....
That Grey Goose vodka is calling my name.
I used to not drink at all when Logan was a baby...just never knew what could happen. Now, I will have a glass of wine or a beer a few times a week if I want it.
